I went to Publix today to buy some ingredients for baked goods. However, I couldn't find meringue powder (or powdered egg whites) anywhere.
My question is this:
Does anyone know where I can find this product? Does Publix usually sell it, but I looked in the wrong place? What about Wal-Mart? I'm pretty sure Michael's does, in their cake decorating aisle, but I won't be going there for a while. If anyone could help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it!
I did however find everything else I need (including the parchment paper that was on sale!!) for baking this weekend! :)
Update! I went to Wal-Mart this afternoon and found, in the cake decorating section, a really big can of Meringue Powder. Thank you to everyone who responded to my question! Your help is much appreciated! Now, I need to get off this computer and start making cookies!

I have seen it in Joann fabrics and Michaels. I also think some grocery stores have it in their baking aisles.
I don't know if I would buy foodstuffs at MIchael's ... I would first check around the biggest, best supermarkets in your area. Or is there a baking supply store anywhere near you?
If all else fails, you can always order it by mail! But that won't help you this weekend. Good luck!
You can find meringue powder at WalMart with the cake decorating supplies. Michaels will have it for sure, or if you have Hobby Lobby near you they will have it. I have never been able to find it at Publix....although I love Publix! BTW I'm a home cake decorator...have been for about 15 plus years. Hope this helps.
You can get it at walmart I believe. I think that is where Ryan bought the last container for me.
I've bought it at Bulk Barn. But I live in Canada - I don't know where you are, but maybe try a bulk food store.
Have you tried wilton on line? (or whatever brand you prefer to use?)
look in the crafts/cake decorating area at walmart
Wilton definitely has Meringue Powder and I bought mine at Michaels, they have 2 or 3 different sizes and that stuff lasts!!! Wal-mart also carries it because they carry Wilton. Good Luck!!!
Oh...go to Michaels...they have it. Been there done that!
I just found your blog on "blogs of note", congrats!! I have a 15 yr old son that loves to decorate cakes. I will show him your blog tomorrow. He just told me yesterday that he might want to be a pastry chef... anyway, love your blog and will add it to my favorite blogs on my page, hope that is ok with you...
I have never heard of meringue powder before. What do you do with it. I only know how to make meringues with egg whites, sugar and corn flour.
Kelsie- congratulations! I see you are featured in the list of "Blogs of Note" on the Blogger homepage. Thats cool!!!

now i have found a new source for cake-making. this will be useful once i get the urge to begin making them. :)
i used to bake cakes with my aunt when i was still in grade school.
You could beat up some egg whites with cream of tartar powder in a non plastic bowl
I like your blog. I've always been interested in baking. My sister bakes, my aunt bakes, I'd like to be able to. I'm a skill set collector.
However, on more serious tone, recently in my social contemporary movements class we were discussing grass root movements. One of them was this clever organization thats goal is to take down Wal-mart, the "killers of capitalism". I'm not an advocate. But being that you couldn't find meringue powder anywhere else, how do you feel about that? Baker.
