Gumpaste Gorgous

My work stuff.

This is a lily... or at least it's supposed to be

This is a broken lily petal. Oops.

Another view of the lily.

Daffodils. For some reason, I keep wanting to call them dandelions. They didn't turn out so well, but maybe next time?

Another view of daffodils

The classic rose. You can't tell from this angle, but it turned out a bit... oval-y.

the rose is beautiful!!
i actually have a pair of earrings which look quite similar.

what do you use to make these, and where do you get it? my sister has a book on building those cake-flowers but she never uses it!

Elvie,
I use gumpaste (also called petal paste, flower paste, or sugar paste) to make the flowers. You can buy it at most craft stores, and sometimes even wal-mart.
Here are some links to get you started:
premade gumpaste
gumpaste powder
gumpaste kit

I was wondering if the gumpaste flower kit was worth the investment. I think I'll get it now.

I think your daffodils look nice.

It's a pretty basic kit as far as they go, and consequently on the cheap end, too, but if you're just starting out (like me), then I think you should give it a try.

I bought mine with a Michael's 50% coupon, so you might want to see if you can find a sale/coupon like that too.

Good luck!
